So a good buddy of mine met this girl through a girl—-friend (not girlfriend) of mine. My friend wasn't thrilled at the prospect of her friend seeing my buddy. But they went on a date anyway, which I didn't give a shit about, we're all adults here.

But then last night, my buddy said he was about to call this girl. Then later that evening he texts me and asks me for my girl—-friends phone number. My first response was "why do you need it"? After that he didn't respond anymore.

So is it against bro-code not to provide such information? I tend to be careful in just willy-nilly giving out phone numbers, especially in a situation where I know it's potential drama that I want no part of. But on the other hand I want to help my buddy out, I've known him way longer than I have known this other girl. But it's just an awkward question and situation. I can think of no good reason why he would need her number.

I don't give people other people's numbers. If they wanted them to have it, they would have given it to them.

If he was my friend I would tell him "No, she would have given it to you if she wanted you to have it." If he persisted, I would tell him I would ask her if she wanted me to give it to him. If she didn't and he kept on, I would punch him and tell him to man up and move on.

I'd say no bro-code laws have been broken.

I don't feel it's right to give out a girls number to anyone, friend or otherwise with out her knowing. Not fair to her. And if he can't answer why he wants her number....you know why he wants her number.

The weird thing is it is the number for my friend that he wants and he went on a date with a friend of hers, who he has the number to, but he wants my friends number now, shortly after saying.... FUCK. This is getting way to complicated....

My friend Betsy has a friend named Berta, my buddy has Berta's number and went out with her, now for some reason he needs Betsy's number and I can think of no good reason why he would need that....

yeah, I am pretty sure he wants to bitch her out. I really don't want him to do any of the sort, because I value her friendship, I value both of their friendships. I just feel it would allow the situation to get all Jerry Springer on me and before I know it neither one of them is my friend.

Haha no... I am worried she told her friend a bunch of bad shit about him and probably said she learned it from me. On top of that she probably took my words out of context, or embellished them. But that's what girls do and my buddy should know this.

Unless you're planning on spending the rest of your life with a bro (whatever floats your boat, not judging), I'd abandon the bro-code. If he can't give you a reason, don't worry about it. It will only go one of two ways, and the most likely way is that she sandbagged him to her friend and he wants to know why. You literally want no involvement in that.
